What to do in Winter on the Coffs Coast?

Luke Young • May 26, 2022

When the temperature drops, the idea of going outside, even when on holidays, isn’t that appealing!

However, Coffs Harbour is one of the best places to visit during Winter! With milder temperatures and a plethora of indoor and outdoor activities, you’ll completely forget about the weather!

One of the most popular winter activities in Coffs is whale watching, which happens June to November each year. Coffs provides various vantage points to admire these beautiful creatures, including Muttonbird Island’s eastern side lookout as well as many tour operators providing whale watching cruises, where you can get up close and personal!

Another great outdoor (but kind of indoor!) activity is visiting the Butterfly House. You’ll be immersed in an indoor subtropical rainforest setting where you’ll see hundreds of stunning butterflies. You’ll be nice and warm, walking through the gorgeous setting and get to learn more about the different species.

After a big day out, you’ll want nothing more than to get cosy at a restaurant for dinner and we highly recommend Fiasco Restaurant, located 5 minutes walk from The Observatory. With a warm and cosy atmosphere and delicious meals on offer, you’ll stay warm while you debrief the day and share wonderful holiday stories.

And after your meal, you can head back to The Observatory and if you’ve booked a spa room, you can indulge in a hot spa while you wind down, ready for bed.
